Patty Cake

BEEEEEEACH

Yesterday was blazin hot, so I brought the kids on an impulsive trip to the beach (as in, they were already strapped in the car to go to Wal-Mart, and I decided the beach was a better idea. Luckily I always keep our beach bag packed, so I just had to grab it and go.)

Their reaction to being at the beach

Literally the second we plopped our stuff down and laid out the towel, the lifeguards called everyone out of the water for a 15 minute "safety break." So we played in the sand.

Though she can't say it yet, I know she meant "You are the best mom, ever."

Diggin

Into the water!!!

They had soooooooo much fun splashing, running, falling, scooping, digging, pouring, screaming, and laughing.
This is what makes it all worth while...
(cuz believe me, 3 babies and 1 mama at the beach on a busy day is not loads of fun for the Mama)
Even Brodes kicked back and relaxed on the beach

Hair School for SAHMs

Many of you know that I have a particular interest in hair cutting, but never got the chance to be formally trained. I have been lucky enough to practice on willing family members though. For Mother's Day, Jared gave me a haircutting DVD training series. Here are the results of my first cut...

Jazlyn

Sophia

Love that toothy grin!

Forshadowing of a future band concert?

Sophia is such a loving girl... most of the time. She hugs and kisses her siblings throughout the day, even against their will.

Sophia "sings like a mermaid" every single day. Most commonly in the bathtub at night, or in the car while we're driving. She is even teaching Jazi how to sing like a mermaid now too. We haven't caught that on film yet though.

100% GIRL

Sophia is 100% girl. She loves make up. She loves dresses. She loves singing. She loves dancing. She beams when she feels pretty. Every time I sneak away to put my make up on, Sophia faithfully finds me and wants make up on too "like Mama." So I found an old eye shadow and lipstick that I never use, and put it in a small make-up bag for Sophia.

Applying the lipstick

All finished!
This is what she did as soon as she finished putting her make-up on...
"My make-up... Make-up, I so happy! (Falls to floor)... I so pritty!!!"
Her reaction when she saw her makeover in the mirror

Counting

Sophia (each number getting a little louder and mor excited): "Eight, nine, teeen, 'leven!, thirteen, sixteen, ELEVENTEEN!!!"
