Happy Birthday Grandma!

"Sophia, we need to find the perfect spot for these balloons for Grandma's party!"

Ok! Not in the bedroom.

Nope! Not in the kitchen...

Hmmm...

How about right here on the kitchenette...

What do you think?

Mmm, not quite...

There!

I think this is it!

Oh wait...

Words

Sophia is making leaps and bounds in the smart department this week. She has started saying real words! She can repeat easy words. She watches our lips and listens to the word a couple times, then she gives it a try. The best part is how big her smile is after she says a new word. She is almost as proud of herself, as we are of her!

Some of her growing vocabulary...
-Mama
-Dada
-Papa
-Nay Nay (Uncle Nathan)
-Dosh (Uncle Josh)
-Sitty (Kitty)
-Dollie
-Meow
-Yeah

And I Quote...

"If I could imagine hobbits having a little hobbitish baby, that would be Jazlyn. But she is looking very Mary Tyler Moore today. Like a hobbit version of Mary Tyler Moore."

Give ya 10 guesses who said this about our little Jazzledorf...

You Know You're Tired When...

...you hear the baby screaming on the monitor, and flip it off thinking it's an alarm clock, and fall back to sleep.

Before and After

We have been doing a lot of repainting, trying to "upgrade" the house as much as we can. Here are some preliminary photos.

Most of the kitchen is a pale beigey-green, with an accent wall a darker green. We also replaced the chandelier.

Amazing what little changes can do. The place looks amazing.

Uh Oh!

A Message for Barak

I recieved this in an email this week and thought it is a neat idea. I think it would be great silent scream at our President about abortion. Please join with me in sending this message.

Dear Friends ,

This afternoon I was praying about a number of things, and my mind began to wander. I was deeply distressed at the symbolic actions that President Obama took as he began his presidency. Namely, that he signed executive orders releasing funds to pay for abortions, permission to fund human stem cell research, and federal funding for contraception. I have been involved in the pro-life movement for nearly 20 years, and it pained my heart to see a man and a political party committed to the shedding of innocent blood. This man, and this party lead our country, but they do not represent me or the 54% of Americans who believe that abortion is wrong and should no longer be legal.

As I was praying, I believe that God gave me an interesting idea. Out in the garage I have a box of red envelopes. Like the powerful image of the red LIFE tape, an empty red envelope will send a message to Barack Obama that there is moral outrage in this country over this issue. It will be quiet, but clear.

Here is what I would like you to do:

Get a red envelope.
Address it to:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back of the envelope, write the following message, or something similar..
This envelope represents a child who died in abortion.
It is empty because that life was not given the chance to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception.

Put it in the mail, and send it. Then forward this email to every one of your friends who you think would send one too. I wish we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died before having a chance to live. Maybe it will change the heart of the president. We should all try to mail them on the same day so they arrive within a day or two of each other and be even more of a visual at the White House. Say we all mail them on the weekend of Feb 28-March 1st. Then pass the word as far and wide as we can. Of course, you can send a red envelope anytime you want, but getting lots at once is even more powerful.

Oh Baby

A mere two years ago, babies were the bomb. The coolest thing I could think of. The one solitary thought that occupied my mind, shoving all others aside. I was consumed with BABY.

Now that I have a particular gassy, fussy, crying, hasn't-let-me-sleep-in-two-days, can't-do-anything-to-get-5-minutes-peace baby, I've decided I'm really more of a toddler person.

Tune in next year to see how that one's going...
